Begin from March,2009, most of the tomato paste
manufacturers have signed planting and processing agreements with farmers in
Inner Mongolia Bayan Nur, one of the main producing area of tomatoes in China.
Influenced by financial crisis, many tomato paste manufacturers still have more
tomato paste of cold break 28-30% brix in stock than that in 2007 and 2008 year
over the same period. And the sales result was not satisfactory in the past
months. Concerning the uncertainty of anticipation and the reality of sales
situation, manufacturers all reduced the planting and processing agreements with
farmers. It is estimated that the tomato planting area in 2009 will be reduced
by 30% comparing to that in 2008. The price of tomato paste will be up to
recovering degree after financial crisis in 2009.
